Richard Curen is an experienced London based psychotherapist specialising in psychodynamic psychotherapy and clinical supervision.

My Background

Richard Curen is a London-based psychodynamic psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor offering in-person and online services.

I have worked as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, manager, consultant and trainer since 1999.  In private practice I see individuals and couples. I also work as a clinical supervisor in academic, statutory, private and third sector organisations.  In addition I run reflective practice groups and supervise teams and individual clinicians in various settings.

In the early 2000s I was the Chief Executive and Consultant Forensic Psychotherapist at Respond, a charity for people with intellectual disabilities or autism, who had experienced trauma.  I am currently employed as a supervisor and visiting lecturer in the Portman Clinic at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. I am an honorary psychotherapist in the Trauma Unit and was an Honorary Psychotherapist for over 2 years in the Fitzjohn’s Unit, also at the Tavistock, treating patients with complex diagnoses, personality disorders and profound difficulties in psychological functioning. 

Richard Curen is a London-based BACP and BPC registered psychodynamic psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor offering in-person and online services.

I have been a Reflective Practice Group facilitator for City University and Marie Curie and worked extensively as a freelance clinical supervisor and consultant for organisations such as Young Minds and Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICAP). 

I have published widely and spoken at international conferences and trained other professionals all over Europe. 

I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA). I am a Board member of the Forensic Psychotherapy Society (FPS) and the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy (IAFP) and a member of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Disability (IPD).
